Technical Hardware & Software Specifications
What is the Samsung Galaxy S20 5G SM-G981U UFS Dump?
This is a complete UFS (Universal Flash Storage) dump file for the Samsung Galaxy S20 5G, model SM-G981U (US Region), featuring Bit-6 (Binary 6) security. Unlike older eMMC-based devices, the S20 uses high-speed UFS 3.0 storage, requiring specific dump files that contain correct Logical Unit Number (LUN) configurations.
This dump file is critical for advanced hardware repair. It allows technicians to reprogram the internal UFS chip of a hard-bricked device that has lost its bootloader, partition table, or is completely dead (detecting only as Qualcomm 9008 diagnostics port or Exynos USB boot device).
Supported Repair Scenarios
Use this file to resolve the following hardware and software issues on the SM-G981U:
- Dead Boot Repair: The device is completely unresponsive, takes around 0.10A-0.18A current, and displays nothing on the screen.
- Qualcomm 9008 Mode Fix: For Snapdragon-based G981U units stuck in "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008" mode due to corrupted boot partitions (LUN1/LUN2).
- UFS Chip Replacement: When replacing a physically damaged UFS chip. A blank new UFS chip must be programmed with this dump (Config Descriptor + LUNs) to boot the phone into Download Mode.
- Stuck on Logo / Boot Loop: Resolves persistent boot loops caused by corrupted filesystem headers that standard Odin flashing cannot fix.
- Partition Table Reconstruction: Restores the original partition mapping (PIT) on devices with erased or corrupted storage.

Compatible Tools & Hardware
Because the Galaxy S20 uses UFS technology, standard eMMC tools will NOT work. You must use UFS-capable hardware programmers:
Recommended Professional Tools:
- EasyJTAG Plus (with UFS Socket): The industry standard for Samsung UFS repair. Supports writing Config Descriptors and high-speed LUN writing.
- UFI Box (UFS Prog): Fully supports Samsung UFS provisioning and dump writing.
- Medusa Pro II: Excellent for high-speed UFS programming via ISP or Socket.
- MiPI Tester Box: Supports advanced UFS reading/writing for Samsung chips.
How to Use This UFS Dump
Note: Attempting to write this dump via ISP (In-System Programming) can be challenging due to the high data rates of UFS. We recommend desoldering the chip (Chip-Off) for stable programming, though high-quality ISP adapters may work.
- Identify the Bit Version: Ensure your device was running Bit-6 (sw rev 6) or lower. Writing a Bit-6 dump to a Bit-7+ device may prevent booting due to anti-rollback security (fuse blown).
- Connect UFS Chip: Place the clean or original UFS chip into the programmer socket.
- Write Config: Write the UFS Configuration Descriptor first to set up the LUN sizes and boot attributes.
- Write LUNs: Flash the specific LUN files (LUN0, LUN1, LUN2...) included in this package.
- LUN1 usually contains Boot A.
- LUN2 usually contains Boot B.
- Reassemble & Float: Solder the chip back to the motherboard.
- Enter Download Mode: The device should now be able to enter Download Mode (Volume Down + Volume Up + USB Cable).
- Flash Official Firmware: Once in Download Mode, flash the full 4-file stock firmware (Bit-6 or higher) using Odin to complete the restoration.
